Truly Pastured, Free-Roaming, Heritage Hens

Black Australorp

Cousin to the Buff Orpington, the Black Australorp breed was developed in, you guessed it, Australia. They are a cold hardy bird that lays brown eggs. They are glossy black with a greenish-purple tinge to their feathers. They are also considered a heavy breed as the males can weigh 6 to 8 pounds and the hens 5 to 7 pounds at maturity.
